Yoni Egg Guide

Yoni in sanskrit means sacred temple, and refers to a woman’s vagina.
The yoni egg is an egg shaped semi-precious stone that when used inside the vagina, has healing properties for the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. A yoni egg is worn by a woman inside her vagina, and is an amazing tool that helps tone the lower abdomen as well as the pelvic floor. When these muscles are strong, they help prevent leakage of our life force and sexual energy. In fact, using a yoni egg helps to rev up & circulate sexual energy - thus enhancing creativity, energy levels, & libido. Lastly, using a yoni egg is hugely beneficial for women who experience urinary incontinence, as the yoni egg practice can reverse incontinence issues rapidly.
The yoni egg is a practice that originated in ancient China in the tradition of Taoism. Traditionally, the stone used for the yoni egg practice has always been Nephrite Jade. As you use your yoni egg, it is important to set an intention, as your intention for doing the practice can amplify the healing effects - including the healing of sexual &/or emotional abuse, trauma, low self-esteem and stagnant energies. The yoni egg practice is particularly beneficial for healing suppressed sexual energy & clearing sexual blocks. If you're a beginner we suggest that you start with a medium, drilled yoni egg as this will typically fit most women.
How to Use Your Yoni Egg

Many women experience the benefits of using their yoni egg through both active and passive practice. Worn during movement-based activities like yoga, walking, or light exercise, the egg naturally engages the pelvic floor and the body instinctively contracts around it to retain it, creating gentle, consistent resistance training for the pelvic floor muscles. For a more passive approach, wearing the egg while going about your day still builds awareness and connection to the pelvic floor without requiring focused effort. Most practitioners recommend starting with 20–30 minutes per session and building up to 1–2 hours as your pelvic floor strength develops. The benefits accumulate over time through this regular engagement, alongside the crystal healing properties of whichever stone you choose.
We sell drilled yoni eggs because the benefits of wearing a yoni egg become hugely amplified when you are able to apply resistance to the yoni egg when it is in your vagina. With a drilled yoni egg, you can thread string through it and create this resistance by pulling on the string while using your pelvic floor muscles to hold the yoni egg in place. Using a combination of conscious breathing techniques, placing the yoni egg in different areas within the vagina, and applying resistance to the yoni egg by pulling on the string, you will notice significant increases in strength, awareness, tone, & sensitivity of your yoni very quickly.

Are Yoni Eggs Safe?

YES! Yoni eggs are very safe. Ever since jade yoni eggs have made their way into mainstream cultural consciousness, many misconceptions have been popping up in the media. One of these misconceptions is the idea that using a yoni egg inside the vagina is unsafe due to the fact that it will cause a yeast infection by harbouring bacteria. This is FALSE! Yoni eggs (as long as they are high quality like ours) are made from solid pieces of stone. These crystals are non-porous and thus will not harbour bacteria as long as the yoni egg is cleaned properly before & after use.
We do NOT recommend beginning the yoni egg practice for your FIRST time if you are pregnant. The yoni egg practice is incredibly powerful at the physical & energetic level - and thus we recommend waiting to begin the practice until after you have given birth.
NOTE: Not ALL crystals are safe to use inside the yoni. We have ensured that each crystal product available in our store is SAFE & beneficial for internal use.
FAQ
How do I know which yoni egg to buy?
The right yoni egg depends on your current pelvic floor, muscle strength, and experience with pelvic floor exercises. If you are new to yoni egg exercises, it is generally recommended to begin with a larger egg, as it provides more feedback and helps you clearly feel and isolate muscles in the vaginal canal. A larger egg supports awareness of the vaginal wall muscles and reduces the need to over-contract other muscle groups such as the thighs or abdomen. Women with a stronger pelvic floor muscle tone or experience with kegel exercises may gradually build toward using a smaller egg once good control has developed.
How long should you leave a yoni egg in?
A yoni egg is not meant to be worn all day. It is used during short, intentional pelvic floor exercises sessions. When you start exercising, begin with a few minutes, either lying down or performed sitting, allowing your pelvic floor to engage gently without increasing abdominal pressure. Over time, with regular pelvic floor exercises, sessions may gradually build to 10–20 minutes.
Early practice focuses on awareness rather than intensity. Slow holds support slow twitch muscle fibres, while brief contractions help activate fast twitch muscle fibres. Both are essential for balanced pelvic floor tone and may support issues such as light bladder leaks. Only once strength improves should practice be extended to eventually standing. Rushing this process can lead to tension rather than healthy pelvic floor muscle tone.
Are yoni eggs actually good for you?
When used correctly, yoni eggs can support healthy pelvic floor, improve coordination of the pelvic muscles, and increase awareness of the vaginal canal. Regular pelvic floor exercises using a yoni egg may help strengthen the vaginal wall muscles, including the upper vaginal wall muscle, while reducing reliance on inner thigh muscles or breath-holding. This can support better muscle balance, improved pelvic floor tone, and greater control during everyday movement.
Many women find that consistent practice helps with issues related to weakened muscles, including urine flow control and mild support for light bladder leaks, especially when combined with mindful breathing and reduced abdominal pressure.
How do you push out a yoni egg?
Removing a yoni egg safely requires relaxation. If your egg has a drilled hole, attach unwaxed dental floss or dental floss before insertion. To remove the egg, relax your vagina, breathe deeply, and gently bear down, similar to initiating urine flow, without actively trying to stop urine flow.
If the egg feels higher in the vaginal canal, squatting or sitting can help reduce tension. Avoid gripping with the pelvic floor or engaging other muscle groups. When the muscles relax, yoni egg sliding often occurs naturally. Never pull forcefully. With regular practice, removal becomes generally fine and effortless as pelvic floor muscle tone and coordination improve.
